Here are the travel tools we use on all our trips. When you buy something through some of our links, we get a small commission, but you pay the same, or sometimes you get a discount!
This article has affiliate links: if you book or buy through them, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Accommodation
Finding comfortable, well-located places to stay is one of our priorities when we plan our trips. To find a place to stay we use:
Booking.com and Agoda
You can find most of the world's accommodation on Booking.com and Agoda, from guesthouses to hostels and apartments. Best of all, the more you book through their apps, the bigger the discounts you can get.
Hostelworld
A website devoted entirely to finding and booking hostels!
Airbnb
If you're going to stay for longer periods, it's best to book through Airbnb to get long-stay discounts.
eSIM for travel
To stay connected on our trips, we buy an eSIM. They're a convenient, flexible way to have internet abroad without any hassle.
Holafly
Holafly offers eSIMs in more than 100 countries, so you can get online easily and cheaply. You can manage everything directly from its app.
If you have questions about eSIMs, we have an article where we tell you more.
Travel insurance
Travel insurance is one of the first things we buy before every trip.
Heymondo
This travel insurer offers options for short stays as well as specialized insurance for digital nomads. And if you travel with a lot of tech, it lets you insure it, which takes one worry off your mind.
With our Heymondo link you get a discount on your travel insurance.
Assist 365
Another travel assistance provider we've tried and recommend is Assist 365. The good thing is that if you buy from Argentina, they usually offer interest-free installments, although the medical coverage tends to be lower than Heymondo's and the prices are quite similar.
You get 5% off Assist 365 using our link.
Finding cheap flights
Saving on a plane ticket makes a big difference to your budget. There are several tricks for finding the cheapest plane tickets, but it all starts with research.
Google Flights
We almost always start by looking at flights on Google Flights to get an overall picture of prices. It also lets you search for flights from, say, Argentina to Europe as a whole, so you can see the price of a flight to each European country and choose based on price.
Skyscanner
This is our favorite tool for booking flights, since it lets you compare flights with some very useful features.
Transportation
Depending on the type of trip, sometimes we get around by rental car, bus, train or ferry, and we have a tool for each.
discovercars.com
To rent a car we use the discovercars.com search engine, which shows you everything on offer and often has deals.
12Go
To buy bus, train, ferry or van tickets we use 12Go, especially when we're in Asia.
Omio
For train and bus tickets around Europe, Omio is the best search engine we've found.
